Maximizing the life expectancy of a cabinet and its equipment while maintaining the lowest possible energy costs is essential to data center managers today. As data usage and demand fluctuates throughout the day, the temperature within enclosures changes as well. Adding a variable speed fan controller to an enclosure with fans extends not only the life of the fans, but also the equipment mounted within while limiting energy consumption. The FTC103 fan controller is able to be throttled down to a speed as low as 60% and up to 100% automatically, based off of the temperatures within the enclosure.
The fan controller is ideal for enclosures and wall mounts in small data rooms and wiring closets. Fans installed in these small areas can be overpowering in noise and energy usage, especially in wall mounts when 100% fan speed is not needed to cool equipment. The fan controller allows fans to provide the optimum amount of cool air to equipment at a comfortable noise level.
The variable speed fan kit comes with a 10' temperature probe cord, 3' outlet cord and the thermal breaker requires no fuse. These useful features combined with its guarantee to work with all Great Lakes fans make it a low-profile highly useful device for any cabinet installation.
In an enclosure, the Variable Speed Fan Controler can be easily attached to Great Lakes Universal PDU Mounting Brackets as pictured above, and "Zero-U" mounting brackets. It can also be attached to the Flexible Mounting Profile points on the Great Lakes E and ES Series enclosure rails without sacrificing any valuable RMU space. When installing the fan controller in a wall mount, it can be attached to the rear rails (Great Lakes wall mounts come standard with 2 pair of rails).
