After a somewhat slow start Sunday (it was opening day in the NFL after all), Monday kicked off in a big way. The show floor was packed. As I made the long walk around the MGM Grand to the exhibit hall, a low roar started to build. This picture doesn't do the crowd justice.
Corning's EDGE
Corning was showing off the capabilites of LANscape® Pretium EDGETM Solutions and it's applications in high density data center environments. EDGE brings 35% faster installs, improves MAC work by 25%, and allows 100% more density than traditional cabling systems. This booth was always packed.
Going Green with 17 Free
General Cable drew the crowds with their 17 FREE Halogen-Free Riser Cables. By eliminating halogens from the jacketing, overall toxicity of the cable is reduced, creating a more "green" product. The high point at this booth was their video comparing 17 FREE to traditional cables. The burn test is pretty amazing.
OneReach Is A Hit
Berk-Tek pulled out all the stops with their launch of a new product: OneReach. OneReach is a composite Copper/Fiber all-in-one control and communications security cable. The key here is it supports PoE to extended distances. A press conference was held earlier in the day for the official launch and was a huge hit with datacom and security contractors alike.
Stay tuned for more coverage of Day 1 and 2, there's a lot to cover. Also, follow our Twitter feed for the latest news from the show floor.
