As the sun dipped behind the Georgia pines and the temperature dropped, racers of the 4th annual Alpharetta Police Athletic League 5k approached the starting line. Team Accu-Tech, numbering 45 strong, went toe-to-toe with more than 400 participants ready to tackle the grueling 5k loop through one of Alpharetta's popular running areas. I don't know how the race organizers did it, but they managed to find, not only steep hills, but LONG steep hills capabale of breaking the spirit of the most seasoned runners. In spite of these calf-killers, everyone was able to have a great time and enjoy the event.
All proceeds went to support the Alpharetta Police Athletic League (PAL) and their ongoing community projects and many of the area's businesses got involved. While most of us are sporting a noticeable limp this morning, it was all for a good cause and we're looking forward to next year.
