The new TE Connectivity Universal Connectivity Platform (UCP) is an advanced modular cabling concept designed for speed and flexibility. The UCP provides a fully modular approach to designing data centers and telecommunications rooms, and is ideal for rapidly evolving environments.
TE’s UCP enables business transformation by virtue of its modularity. It is designed to accommodate all of TE’s cabling media, whether copper or fiber, to support the 10, 40 and 100 Gigabit network connections in a single patch panel. By simply selecting the media, network equipment can be changed in a controlled fashion as the network demands.
Most data centers today combine fiber and copper cabling to some degree. The Universal Connectivity Platform helps manage the two media in a cost-effective way, while strategically adding flexibility and scalability to the network. The UCP concept saves space and increases rack efficiency, and includes a broad range of TE components including:
- UCP patch panels
- subfloor panels and overhead mounts
- UCP drawer-style enclosures
- Side-mounting and adaptive brackets maximize usable space along vertical posts and above and below racks
- Pre-terminated fiber and copper quick-fit cassettes: MPO and MRJ21 cabling system
- UCP fiber quick-fit modules
- UCP copper quick-fit modules
- Superior rack efficiency
- Unprecedented space savings
- Organic simplification thanks to a modular design
- Increased cost effectiveness while also supporting both cable types
