Without the hard, diligent work done by today’s cabling professionals, building, maintaining and optimizing the cabling infrastructure would not be possible for advancements such as: virtualization, cloud, SANs, SaaS and BYOD. The industry’s demands for quick, accurate, and agile data communications installers are ever so important with the continuous evolvement.
A recent global study of cabling professionals proved that cabling business owners, project managers, and installers are falling short and struggling to keep up with the times. Due to costly errors and complications in planning, troubleshooting mistakes, and difficulty achieving systems acceptance; money is being lost left and right with the delay of payment.
Fluke Networks took action as a result of these findings in order to help cabling professionals stay ahead of the curve. Fluke Networks launched a new family of Versiv Cable Certification testers. These testers were designed from the ground up to help data communications installers achieve systems acceptance in a quicker, more accurate fashion at a more profitable level with the elimination of errors on copper and fiber jobs. This flexible platform with interchangeable modules for copper, fiber, and OTDR testing simplifies testing, setup, planning, and reporting.
ProjX managements system is a key feature of this new tester family. This management system expands the reach and control of project managers and team leaders. Allowing leaders to set up test parameters across multiple jobs and media creates consistency across an entire job and enables switching from job to job; simply by tapping the desired project on the large, gesture based touchscreen. Additionally, the system allows for up-to-the-minute project analysis and oversight to speed certification and reporting.
The new system even caters to less experienced technicians when they encounter a problem during testing by enabling them to create a “Fix Later” troubleshooting punch-list. This feature allows more experienced installers to examine the problems later—increasing troubleshooting accuracy and decreasing the amount of time new installers spend trying to ad hoc fixe problems.
