In today's fast growing environment, creating and updating telecommunication infrastructure to keep pace with business needs can prove to be a difficult proposition. While the impact on day to day operations and the businesses finances are always a concern, there is no need to let a shoddy job come between you and a well-kept data center. Luckily, American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) & Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) are there to help with standards and guidelines for your telecommunications needs.
Which one do you think is going to cost more to maintain?
TIA-568 and TIA-606 standards are defined as the "Commercial Building Telecommunications Cabling Standards" and “Administration Standard for Commercial Telecommunications Infrastructure”. This set of TIA standards defines much of the installation and testing process for telecommunications equipment, as well as proper labeling throughout. DYMO has worked to get this information out to installers, and identifying how exactly it will help their business.
In addition to the TIA-606 standards, TIA-942 elaborates specifically on data centers. Since data centers can take up a lot more room than they need to (if you let them), it is important to keep them organized for easy maintenance and upgrading. Not only will this make it easier to troubleshoot when there is a problem, but sticking with universal guidelines helps to avoid mistakes and the consequences of them.
DYMO has touched on an important point that all installers should keep in mind- quality of work, over quantity. After all, would you really want to sort through this?
