Driven by the growth of solutions using 4K Ultra HD and other high-resolution imaging formats, H.265 expands the efficiencies of H.264 compression standard by generating the highest-quality images in the smallest video files possible. This significantly reduces bandwidth and storage requirements, which effectively lowers infrastructure costs and makes high-resolution surveillance systems more affordable.
Additionally, by applying Hanwha's WiseStream codec to H.265 and H.264, users can benefit from up to 75% reduction in bandwidth and storage requirements. WiseStream can automatically and dynamically identify and generate high-quality images of areas of motion within a scene while applying greater compression to background areas.
WiseStream can also dynamically adjust the I-Frame (Dynamic GOV) interval of video depending on the scene and the amount of motion present. Not only has the I-Frame setting been extended to allow for very large intervals for times of little activity and greater bandwidth savings, but the value can also be limited. This allows the dynamic I-Frame to be utilized, while applying a cap, in case network design or other considerations require customization. Furthermore, the Dynamic GOV setting can be applied to specific video profiles in the camera, allowing recorded video to be optimized while keeping the mobile profile with short I-Frame intervals, for example.
Each function of WiseStream can be adjusted individually.
As an example, the 4K Wisenet Premium Series Cameras support WiseStream and H.265 codec technology to provide 4K resolution video for video surveillance using the same data bandwidth as a 1080p full HD legacy system using H.264 codec.
Hanwha cameras currently featuring H.265 compression and WiseStream include the Wisenet P Series and Wisenet Q Series models. The P Series provides 4K and 12 Megapixel resolution, while the Q Series provides 2 Megapixel and 4 Megapixel resolutions.
