Wet environments are especially troublesome for cable installations and require additional considerations. One is ensuring the cable that is being installed is built specifically to handle applications in less than ideal surroundings. Realizing the difficulties for cables in wet environments, Hitachi developed and introduced a 6A Outdoor cable that when installed in conduit or direct buried, is more than up to the challenges of it's wet surroundings.
To best take on such harsh environments, Hitachi's Category 6A outdoor cable features an inner core of four 23-gauge pairs separated by an electrical-enhancing shaped filler and flooded with water-blocking gel. This core, encapsulated by an inner jacket, is then wrapped in a polyester-backed aluminum foil. A rugged outer jacket is then applied to the construction with a layer of water-blocking aramid yarns impregnated with super absorbent polymer (SAP) beneath.
