Wherever you're working, whether you're in your office or at home, severe winter weather can have a huge impact on your power situation. So many factors can disrupt your work and your life - ice storms, blizzards, high winds and even plummeting temperatures. How do you protect yourself? Make a plan.
- Establish a backup power plan
- Don't let lost power mean lost productivity, data or business. Having a backup power solution in place is critical to ensuring you stay up and running. Make sure to have your UPS and other IT equipment serviced and batteries replaced regularly to keep everything in order.
- Develop a disaster recovery plan for your data
- Working in virtual environments guarantees the seamless movement of data from one source to the next. Keep your data stored virtually - and safely. Hopefully, you don't need to use your backup, but it's important to have the backup, just in case.
- Document and share your team's procedures for responding during a natural disaster
- Make sure to document the processes and procedures to follow in the event of a power outage and/or natural disaster so your employees know exactly what to do if that event happens. This will protect both your employees and your customers.
