Planning Our Sustainable Future Starts with Laying the Groundwork Cable

Global warming across our planet is causing drastic changes to our weather and environmental conditions. No matter where you live, you've probably seen the effects, from hotter summers to colder winters. So, what does this have to do with our industry? Everything.

In February 2020, Superior Essex joined the Global Enabling Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) as a member organization, and they took on additional responsibilities later in the same year when they were elected as a corporate board member. GeSI calls for companies to address some of the most urgent sustainability challenges of the 21st century, all to do our part to protect our planet. Through collaborating with other organizations in GeSi, Superior Essex can continue to make an impact in these initiatives. 

Superior Essex and its fellow GeSI board organizations believe that digital technologies can contribute positively, and they're committed to using these technologies, in addition to sustainable cabling developments and manufacturing processes, to create change. Superior Essex has already made great strides in this area, from reducing their carbon emissions, to creating Zero Waste to Landfill facilities, to openly sharing their product transparency...with more to come!

In fact, just today, Superior Essex aligned its programs with the established United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Superior Essex is committed to supporting 12 out of the 17 specific UN goals, including making efforts to improve the environment in terms of sustainability, economic growth, health and responsible consumption. With this initiative, the UN and partner organizations intend to improve health and education, reduce inequality and take on climate change, recognizing that these goals can often be met together.
