Not too long ago we covered Superior Essex's past press release concerning how over 20 products from Superior Essex are now eligible for 2 LEED building certification points. Following that exciting development, Superior Essex has engineered their 10Gain-XP-CAT6A cable to be the smallest Cat 6A plenum they have available, with a diameter of only .265”! Manufacturer's across the industry continually seek to improve their products, but this is the first to offer HPD and UL certified EPD's, not to mention an improved product line-up.
Minimizing the size of cables has long reaching effects throughout all areas of an installation – from cable trays and maximizing bend radii, to actual connection points and ensuring enough space for high-density deployments in the data center. It is important to note that this new 10Gain XP Cat6A cable is also the first Cat6A cable without a continuous shield which offers 7dB of margin over AXT performance requirements as specified in ANSI/TIA-568-C.2.
Here is an excerpt from the full press release, which can be found at the end of this post:
"The new smaller diameter 10Gain XP CAT 6A plenum cable offers significant size advantages in tight spaces and less environmental impact without compromising on performance. Our new design uses approximately 20% less plastic than the typical CAT 6A cable, and offers significant protection against alien crosstalk interference,” says Amir Sekhavat, Director of Global Product Management for Premises Copper."
