A Quick Review of 5G
Let's start with the basics. What is 5G again?
Good question. 5G is actually a performance specification within wireless frequency technologies. As opposed to networks in the past, 5G performs with a 1 Gbps+ data rate, and even better, with less than 1ms of latency. These incredible features represent a massive step forward in the evolution of industry standards.
The Three 5Gs Explained
There are three ways that carriers can achieve 5G performance, each with various differentiations in data rate and range:
-
Low-Band 5G (Carrier Aggregated): Aggregates the 4G low-band highway to achieve 5G performance levels
-
Mid-Band 5G (C-Band): Balances the better data rate of high bands with the better range of low bands.
-
High-Band 5G (mmWave): Brings the fastest data transmission available to users but has a limited range.
Notice how the best data rate is in High-Band 5G while the best range is in Low-Band 5G.
As the middle ground of the 5G spectrum, mid-band cellular service arguably offers the best value between high data rate and range, and because of the latter wireless contradiction, further infrastructure has lately been developed for mid-band services like C-band 5G.
Major carriers have already deployed 5G networks, and more mobile network operators (MNOs) will soon likely leverage the full spectrum of 5G frequencies in order to achieve both coverage and capacity in their 5G network offerings.
C-band 5G truly finds a balance between the demands for faster data and connected devices with longer range, thus making it an essential component when providing the best possible service to customers and businesses nationwide.

Diving Deeper into C-Band 5G with WilsonPro
Wilson Electronics, an industry leader in cellular signal repeater technology, recently announced the launch of the industry’s first enterprise-grade 5G C-band repeater, available in June of 2022:
Introducing the Enterprise 1337R
The Enterprise 1337R (shown above) is the first repeater engineered to extend C-Band frequencies, providing stronger 5G C-band signal and additionally making the power of 5G accessible in any commercial building.
This brand new unit can function as both a standalone 5G C-band-exclusive repeater, or as an add-on to any existing Enterprise 1300 or Enterprise 4300 repeater system.
Fun fact? This unit also includes secure remote management with built-in LTE connectivity, enabling users to remotely manage and receive real-time performance reports and system alerts on any connected device.
