New PoE++ switch provides power and data to security cameras, is self-enclosed to withstand harsh environments, and provides unique wireless capabilities for easy installation and troubleshooting
Transition Networks, Inc., a provider of edge connectivity solutions, today announced that its Power-over-Ethernet ++ (PoE++) Self-Enclosed, Hardened Gigabit Ethernet Switch has won the 2018 New Product of the Year Award in the Network Support Solutions category awarded by Security Today magazine.
The Security Today New Product of the Year Award honors the outstanding product development achievements of security equipment manufacturers whose products are considered to be particularly noteworthy in their ability to improve security. Each winner was judged on criteria including features, innovation, user friendliness, interoperability, quality, design, market opportunity, impact in the security industry, technical advances, and scalability.
In its award entry, Transition Networks emphasized the unique wireless capabilities that make it easy, quick, and cost effective to install, extend, and manage security and surveillance networks for outdoor locations. This innovative switch is equipped with Near Field Communications (NFC) technology to allow simple and repeatable configuration of multiple switches using a user-friendly app on a mobile device prior to connecting or powering up the switch. Also unique to this switch is a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) feature that allows remote access to status information or to read or change equipment settings without requiring physical access using ladders or scissor lifts. Other valuable features include wireless Ethernet extension, power management and cable diagnostics for even more efficiency and cost savings.
GlenNiece Kutsch from Transition Networks explains that “these features reduce the time, expense and access challenges associated with providing power to high-speed cameras or other devices in industrial environments or outdoor locations where it is difficult to add power or cost-prohibitive to hire electricians. The switch is self-enclosed in an outdoor NEMA 4X/IP66 enclosure that mounts directly on a wall or pole, eliminating the hassles associated with traditional cabinet installations. The switch also incorporates integrated management software simplifying setup, monitoring and control of connected devices.”
“Winning the New Product of the Year award is a testament to our innovative engineering team’s unwavering commitment to design easy-to-use products that meet customers’ needs and exceed their expectations” said Scott Otis, President of Transition Networks. “Developing cutting edge products for the new IEEE 802.3bt standards for higher power over Ethernet strengthens Transition Networks’ position as a leading solution provider for security and surveillance and we are honored to be recognized for our unique POE++ product offering.”
The trophy will be awarded to Transition Networks next month at the Global Security Exchange (GSX) show in Las Vegas, NV, taking place September 23-27. GSX (formerly ASIS) is one of the most comprehensive security shows in the world. Transition Networks will be demonstrating its line of products supporting the security and surveillance market, including the new PoE++ switch.
